严天翔老师坦言，创作初衷源于对《道德经》的深厚感情与长期思考。“《道德经》仅五千言，却以天地之道阐明人世规矩。老子所说的’道法自然”上善若水”知足常乐’，蕴含着跨越时空的智慧。”他选择《望仙门》这一词牌，是因其“读着清爽，格局宏大”，特别适合表现道家超脱的意境与天地之道的思考。
百首词作按照《道德经》的思想脉络分为四个部分：论道、论德、论无为自然治身、论治国用兵处世。严老师巧妙地将抽象的哲学概念转化为可感的诗词意象，以水喻柔韧之力，以山岳表持重守静，通过自然物象引导读者体悟玄理。
“在近两年的创作中，我深刻体会到，用固定词牌表现博大精深的哲学思想，既是一种挑战，也是一种修炼。”严老师表示，这一过程是“知行合一”的体悟，让他对“道法自然”、“致虚守静”等观念有了更切身的感受。
面对当今社会物欲横流、人心浮躁的现象，严老师强调，此时更需要从传统智慧中汲取养分，效仿先贤守道、遵道、做到。他希望通过词章这种艺术形式，让更多人接触并理解《道德经》，使古老智慧在当代焕发新的生命力。
